BC Hydro’s School Programs, a Monday morning ready resource for B.C. educators to teach energy conservation to their students, wanted an online platform to increase awareness, encourage student participation, and streamline the educator registration process. We created an entire platform for Educators to track their classes’ progress through the Firstwave program as well as their students’ activity and interaction. This was a very challenging program as the main users are educators, and they have very little time for extra things outside of class. We had to make this platform do as much of the work as possible.

I had the great opportunity to work with MoCo marketing and communications firm over the summer as an intern of sorts. I designed a site for one of their clients Emmanuel Covenant Church, who wanted a crisper and more modern feel to their website. They also wanted the ability to update the site easily, so we built it in Wordpress. This was a great experience for me because I had the privilege to meet with the clients initially and talk to them about their hopes and goals for their new site.

As a part of our course at Capilano University, we had the chance to work with a non-profit group. I was the project manager in a group of three, and we worked with The Babz Chula Lifeline for Artists Society.
Babz Chula is a well-known Vancouver actress and a cancer survivor. After the cancer recurred, a group of her friends in the acting community pulled together to raise money for her treatment. They had a previous website, but they needed something to grow into as they branched out and changed as a society. I designed the website, and my teammates built it in Wordpress so it could be easily updated no matter who was managing the site.
Babz is a woman full of life, and it was very important to me to capture her life, energy and warmth through this design.

Old site: The Halfway There project

This assignment was to take a pre-existing site and re-design it. I choose the Halfway There Project because they do great things for the world, and I would love to see them expand their audience.
Their audience mainly consists of Young Adults involved in missions,so I decided to take the design in a modern and elegant direction. I chose intriguing and stirring images that would appeal to both young and old, and I kept the colors fresh and clean to keep with the water theme.

In this assignment, we were to create a website and give it a strong brand. I chose to create a paint store website and create a really fun experience for the user. I chose bold colors and fun textures because they provide a more tactile feeling. I also designed an interactive color choosing tool to create a more interesting experience overall.
